The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, aimed to modernize its investment operations by enhancing portfolio valuation systems and replacing the existing disclosure portal with a more robust, scalable technology platform. The objective was to improve efficiency, data quality, and user experience for stakeholders accessing investment data and disclosures.
As the Senior UI/UX Designer, I led the user experience strategy and interface design for the IFC iPortal web application. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, I conducted user research, developed wireframes and prototypes, and ensured the final design met both user needs and business objectives.
The visual design adhered to IFC's branding standards, utilizing a color palette inspired by their official guidelines. We employed shade variations in increments of 20% to maintain visual hierarchy and consistency across the platform. Typography choices focused on readability and professionalism, aligning with the organization's global presence and commitment to clarity.

Developing a high-fidelity prototype was crucial in visualizing the final product and facilitating stakeholder feedback. The interactive prototype showcased the refined user interface, demonstrating improved navigation, data presentation, and responsiveness. This step ensured alignment with user expectations and allowed for iterative enhancements before development.

The redesigned iPortal application successfully met IFC’s objectives by providing a modern, efficient, and user-friendly platform for investment operations. Key outcomes included:
- Enhanced Efficiency: Streamlined workflows and improved data accessibility led to increased productivity among investment officers.
- Improved Data Quality: The new system facilitated more accurate and timely portfolio valuations.
- Scalability: The robust architecture of the application allowed for future enhancements and integration with other IFC systems.
- Positive User Feedback: Users reported a more intuitive and satisfying experience, citing the application’s ease of use and professional design.
This project exemplified the impact of thoughtful UI/UX design in transforming complex financial systems into accessible and efficient tools for professionals.
