DevStar a developer management platform is a web application that is being used by the IT management company to track the performance of the employees. Not only does it track the progress but be able to provide the solution to the human resource department for their recruitment and review process.
- Performance Management
- Status Report Automation and Review
- Developer Activity Heat Map
- Security and Privacy of Data
- 360 Feedback
- Hiring (Recruiting, Reviews/Compliance)
- Portfolio Management
- CMMI Tracker

The goal was to create an intuitive, engaging, and storytelling DevStar web application to enable and communicate their accomplishments and their own stories more efficiently.
For this project, I used the Design Thinking Process. Stakeholders and end users were included at every level of the process. I began by empathizing with people before utilizing tools like affinity diagrams, user journey maps, and personas to define the issue. I developed the user flow, wireframes, and hand sketches throughout the ideation phase. Using the Adobe XD software, I created the clickable prototype. Before the design went into production, I tested it with users and went through several iterations.

In the first phase, I utilized the Contextual Inquiry approach to understand the users’ requirements, goals, and behaviors as well as how their day-to-day lives in the DevStar report seem. I conducted 8 online contextual inquiry interviews with users that each took around an hour.
I began by asking detailed questions before moving on to contextual inquiry. Users were requested to share their screens with me, communicate with me during the report generation process, and recreate the complete process from start to finish.
I used 3 distinct methods to combine the information from the Empathize step, including observations and data.
- Affinity Diagram - I started interpreting all the notes from the contextual interviews to pinpoint the issue. To categorize the field data into themes and groups based on their connections, I created an affinity diagram. I was able to identify similar concerns, difficulties, traits, and habits across all the stakeholders and present all of the available possibilities.
- User Journey Map - To show all the processes stakeholders take to prepare the report from conception to submission, I designed a User Journey Map.
- Persona - I developed two personas to represent users and stakeholders, and show the team and stakeholders their pain areas, objectives, requirements, and expectations.
I always included every stakeholder in the design process. Before moving on with the next steps, I reported the findings to the team and the stakeholders.

Based on our results and the information in the form, I created the new user flow. I started doing wireframes and hand drawings at the same time.
The ideation process engaged the entire team, including the product owner, project manager, business analyst, and engineers, and the design took into account their comments.

I created the high-fidelity prototype with Adobe XD software. I presented the idea to the team after developing the prototype to get more input. Additionally, I used Adobe XD to construct the clickable prototype for this online application.

I wrote a thorough test strategy in which I specified the goals to conduct successful user testing. Additionally, I conducted user testing with actual users. I worked with each user individually on 7 user tests. Each session lasted almost an hour. Each person was required to study the idea and complete the assignment of writing a report on the new design.
- Iteration - Before production began, I revised several design elements based on user testing and feedback and shared them with key stakeholders once more.
- Production - For the Scrum team, I created the Dev-Ready screens and submitted them to the Adobe cloud before our grooming and sprint planning sessions. The DevStar project was completed successfully; it adhered to the design deadline and received funding.
The Covid-19 Pandemic began when the experiment got underway. Even though the study strategy was developed before the pandemic, I was able to effectively alter and adapt my whole plan to the post-pandemic circumstances. By utilizing the benefits of working from home, I was able to schedule more virtual meetings with less administrative work, which allowed me to communicate with all the users who were spread out across different states, stakeholders, and our team more frequently and involve them in all stages of the design process.
“I had the pleasure of working with Munish during his time at Axle Informatics, and I was consistently impressed by his creativity, attention to detail, and ability to translate complex ideas into intuitive, user-friendly designs. His work in refining design systems and creating seamless digital experiences played a key role in enhancing NCATS' online presence. Beyond his technical expertise, Munish is a collaborative team player who welcomes feedback and continuously pushes design boundaries. Any team would be lucky to have him, and I highly recommend him for any UX/UI or digital design role!”
