CureShare is a collaborative platform developed for NCATS, a unit of the U.S. Department of Health, focused on translational research. The goal of this project is to design a user-friendly mobile application that encompasses all aspects of laboratory informatics, providing everything you need to manage your research teams effectively.
As a key member of the product team for CureShare, I led the user experience (UX) strategy and user interface (UI) design for the mobile application. My responsibilities included analyzing user needs, developing intuitive workflows, and creating a cohesive visual design. I focused on minimizing user friction by streamlining navigation and reducing unnecessary steps, ensuring a seamless experience for researchers and healthcare professionals.
The visual design of CureShare emphasizes clarity and professionalism, aligning with the application’s focus on laboratory informatics and research management. We utilized a clean and modern aesthetic, incorporating a neutral color palette with strategic use of accent colors to highlight key actions and information. Typography was selected for readability, and iconography was designed to be intuitive, aiding in quick comprehension and task completion.
In the wireflow phase, we mapped out the user journey to ensure logical progression through the application’s features. Starting from the dashboard, users can effortlessly navigate to project management, data entry, team collaboration, and reporting modules. Each screen was designed to maintain consistency, with primary actions easily accessible and secondary options logically placed to support user tasks without causing distraction.

The high-fidelity prototype brought together the visual style and wireflow into an interactive model. This prototype allowed stakeholders to experience the application’s look and feel, providing a realistic representation of the final product. Interactive elements were incorporated to simulate real-world use, enabling effective testing and feedback collection to refine the design further.

The collaborative design process resulted in a user-centric mobile application that effectively supports the needs of research teams. By focusing on intuitive design and streamlined workflows, CureShare enhances productivity and facilitates efficient management of research activities. The positive reception from stakeholders and users alike underscores the success of our design approach in meeting the project’s objectives.
“I've had the opportunity to mentor Munish while he worked on several Gamification projects in a visual designer role at NTT DATA. In particular, he was of great help to create a style guide for one of the learning platforms we had designed. Overall, I've found that Munish is thoughtful in his approach to challenges, and displays a willingness to step outside his comfort zone to see the big picture. I've enjoyed seeing him grow as a designer over the months that I've worked with him.!”
